School of Holistic Reflexology

Aims
To develop knowledgeable, skillful and competent practitioners in the healing art of Reflexology.

Objectives
By the completion of eleven months training, course participants will be able to:-

  • Understand the theory of Reflexology according to original principles
  • Have a sound working knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Identify and assess a clients needs and propose a course of treatment that will improve their overall health
  • Inform clients of the benefits, limitations and responses to a treatment
  • Perform a Reflexology treatment according to the client’s needs
  • Apply an holistic approach to the assessment and treatment of the client
  • Support and advise the client throughout the treatment including the use of self-help techniques
  • Evaluate and modify the treatment as required
  • Make an informed judgement as to the effectiveness of the completed course of treatment
  • Advise on the availability and suitability of support therapies, such as nutrition, counseling and referral services
  • Set up a practice in a professional and competent manner conforming to the A.o.R. Code of Ethics and any relevant laws

Format
The course is held over a period of 15 months during normal school term times. There are 21 sessions of 6 ½  hours approximately every 3 weeks held on a Sunday. Each session will be divided into theoretical and practical parts.

There is a considerable amount of home study to be completed in the first part of the course based on these sessions, which will form part of the final exam.
During the second part of the course Students will be expected to submit case histories containing a total of 60 treatments which also form part of the final assessment.
A session will be organised for students to acquire a simple First Aid Certificate suitable for reflexologists and the workplace.
The end of the course is in December and will be followed by a 2½ hours examination with the ABC. The practical aspect is by on-going assessment. The course is accredited with the Association of Reflexologists.

The AoR is the largest umbrella organisation for reflexologists. It forms part of the Reflexology Forum, which is the government recognised body for the single register. After successful completion of all aspects of this course you will be able to acquire insurance with the AoR, be included in their list of practitioners and be listed on the Reflexologist’s single register.

This course is also recognised by the Association of Natural Medicine for membership and insurance. A separate Anatomy and Physiology

Venue
The course will be held in Mildenhall village hall just outside Marlborough, Wiltshire from 9:30 to 5:30. Access from the M4 J15 Swindon take the A346 to Marlborough and as you come down the hill into the town take the turning left into St.Martins and follow the road to Mildenhall. The hall is n your left and there is ample parking. Please bring a pillow and towels and dress comfortably. You will need to bring lunch as the town is about 2 miles away.

Fees
The course fee is £1600, which includes 15 months AoR student membership, ABC exam fee, first-aid day and course manuals relating to the Principles and Practice of Reflexology, Anatomy & Physiology, Diet & Nutrition and The Law of 5 Elements.
A non-refundable deposit of £100 is payable on application. The balance is payable in full at the start of the course but may be spread over the fifteen months by equal installments of £100 / month. Concessions are available at the discretion of the Principal
 
You may also wish to buy books (approximately £60), a practitioner’s tunic (around £20), towels and possibly a reflexology stool (£80-£120).

Further details
The course is aiming for a high level of Reflexology practical and theoretical training leading to a professional qualification with the ability to obtain personal liability and professional indemnity insurance. It is held in a warm and friendly, relaxed atmosphere with small classes so that learning is an enjoyable experience. You do not need any previous experience and the course is suitable for all ages and abilities. You will need a basic level of education and be conversant in English. We also recognise the healer in each and every one of us and encourage you to develop your healing potential in your own individual way.

With this in mind, other skills are explored which will include oriental diagnosis, physiognomy, acupressure points of the feet, Law of five elements, ortho-bionamy of the feet, Bach Flowers and Kinesiology muscle relationships and food sensitivity testing.
